Posted in Spoilers by Ben at October 21st, 2009 • No Comments »

Jonathan Groff has joined the cast of Glee, says Entertainment Weekly.

The 24-year-old actor, who recently starred in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock, has reportedly signed up for five or six episodes as the lead male singer of Vocal Adrenaline.

His character, described by the show’s co-creator Ryan Murphy as “a male diva… a miva”, will also act as a potential love interest for Lea Michele’s Rachel Berry.

Murphy recently revealed that the cast of Glee will go on tour next summer.

Check out a clip for this week’s episode!

Kanye West’s “Golddigger,” Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push It” and Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” are featured in the anticipated second episode of “Glee.”

The cast and producers behind the popular Fox show, which premiered in May after “American Idol” and is set to return for its new season in September, unveiled the second episode Saturday for thousands of fans at Comic-Con.

Future episodes will include songs from Van Halen, Barbra Streisand and the Rolling Stones and feature appearances by guest stars such as Kristen Chenowith, Josh Groban, Victor Garber and Eve, producers said. Expect three to seven songs an episode, they said.

Producers also announced that a soundtrack will be available in November and that the cast plans to visit 10 cities in the fall to meet fans and promote the musical-comedy series.

Comic-Con continues through Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center.

Gregg Henry Joins the Cast of Glee
Posted in Spoilers by Ben at July 24th, 2009 • No Comments »

Ausiello spilled a little tidbit today about casting of a Gilmore Girls alumnus, and it has everything to do with Gregg Henry, who has been prominent on this site this week (and not on purpose!).

According to the spoiler, Gregg Henry (Mitchum Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls) has been cast as Quinn Fabray’s (Diana Agron) dad in the new FOX series Glee. I saw the teaser premiere earlier this summer and thought it was a fantastic show. I was a little skeptical about a primetime musical comedy, but it was really quite good!

Glee is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 9/8c. No word yet about when we’ll see Gregg on the series, or in how many episodes he’s likely to appear in. I’ll keep you posted!

Here’s a little bit of scoop about the new season of Glee via E!Online:

Dave in Seattle: I know it’s so far away, but can you spill anything about the new season of Glee?
Fans may love the Finn-Quinn-Rachel love triangle, but the adult version is definitely one to keep your eyes on. While Will (Matthew Morrison) is married to Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig) and Emma (Jayma Mays) is pining for Will, the unlikely fourth point of the love quadrangle, Ken Tanaka (True Blood‘s Patrick Gallagher), should not be counted out. Gallagher tells us of the slightly creepy football coach: “I think you understand where Ken comes from as they go on. You understand where the bitterness comes from, and people may start to like him a little. Ken will keep going [after Emma]. Ken will go after what he wants. The one thing Ken won’t do is give up.”

Eve Joining “Glee” Club For Arc

And you thought the Glee kids were happy before: R&B supastar Eve has just inked a deal to appear in two episodes of the Fox musical as a no-nonsense girls’ choir director from a rival school, sources confirm to me exclusively.

As I previously reported, Glee producers were considering Whitney Houston for the part. But when she turned it down, Eve stepped up. (Who says no to the most buzzed-about series since… um, since I can remember?)

So what do you think? Do you agree that, especially while she’s walking the comeback trail, Whitney made a mistake by taking a pass? Think Eve will make everyone forget Whit was even in the running? Sound off below! (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)

If you saw the pilot episode of Glee, you know that somebody was bound to come out of the closet sometime. Well, we found out that that time will be in episode four, when the musical dramedy starts up for good in September.

We caught up with the Glee’s Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel) and Amber Riley (Mercedes Jones) at the Art4Life benefit event at Cinespace in Hollywood this week, and they dished on what is sure to be a hot episode, plus, what songs we’ll be hearing in episodes to come…

“Yes, I’m coming out,” said Chris. “How it happens is Kurt comes out to Mercedes because he misleads her into believing he likes her. But he doesn’t. He only likes her as a friend, and to not hurt her feelings, he has to explain to her, ‘Listen, it’s not you. It’s me. I’m gay.’ ”

Chris said the scene is “very respectful and very touching. It’s not comedic at all. It’s very, very real and serious.” Amber adds, “It was very tiring. It was very emotional. It was one of my favorite scenes.”

Another favorite scene to come, said Chris, is one he shares with Kristin Chenoweth. “Her character gets me drunk. She was amazing to work with,” he spilled.

Chris and Amber also dished on some of the upcoming songs we can expect. Amber said, “We may be doing Brandy’s ‘The Boy Is Mine.’ Maybe. And there might be a Dreamgirls song.” Chris spilled, “I think we’re doing ‘Defying Gravity’ [from Wicked], [Salt-N-Pepa's] ‘Push It,’ Usher’s ‘Confessions’ and [Beyoncé's] ‘Halo.’”

Can’t wait for September for Glee’s return? No worries. Amber tells us, “There are supposed to be a lot of sneak peeks they’re doing during the summer.”

Are you excited for the Glee’s return? What songs would you like to hear them sing?
