Jane Lynch Diva Magazine Preview

We just received the press release for Jane Lynch’s feature in UK magazine, Diva Magazine!. She’s talking about her relationship status and what she thinks of the opposition towards gay marriage. If you click the thumbnail on the side you can see the full cover:

She claims she’s heir to Ellen and the others who were ‘out’ before her, but Jane Lynch has worked hard to gain the recognition she deserves. Now she’s revelling in the role of evil sports coach Sue Sylvester in the hit TV show Glee. DIVA caught up with her exclusively to chat about this new star role, her upcoming marriage, and what it’s like to be gay in Hollywood.

Jane Lynch on growing up gay:
“I didn’t know what gay was in high school. I was a big old tomboy. I identified with all boy things. I played baseball sunup to sundown. I didn’t have much in common with other little girls and I related to the boys. I felt like one.”

On coming out and being in the public eye:
“It was very organic. I didn’t stop going to gay events because my visibility was a little greater. I just continued to live my life. I benefited from the work of the brave people like Ellen and Melissa and Rosie. They did the grunt work and I happily walked that trail whistling a tune. It was much easier for me.”

Discussing whether or not her sexuality has affected her career:
“I would say, don’t be a young lesbian pursuing a Hollywood career. I think if I were an ingénue, if I were Kate Winslet, it probably would hurt my career. But because I’m Jane Lynch and I’m a character actor, the world isn’t projecting their romantic fantasies onto me.”

Having recently announced plans to wed her partner, Dr Lara Embry, she comments on America’s public opposition to gay marriage:
“Shouldn’t there be safeguards against the majority voting on the rights of a minority? If people voted on civil rights in the 60s, it would never have happened. Obama won’t do it. He’s a huge disappointment to me.”
You can buy the issue February 11th in the UK!

FOX Unleashing Cartoon Jane Lynch
Posted in Jane Lynch by Michelle at January 2nd, 2010 • No Comments »

Jane Lynch is getting animated for her next gig. The breakout star of FOX’s Glee (who doesn’t love the snark that comes out of Sue Sylvester’s mouth) is set to appear in the Jan. 10 episode

of The Cleveland Show, where she’ll play Roberta’s new teacher, Ms. Eck. The role sounds similar in tone to her role on Glee, with one noticeable difference.

“Ms. Eck may have the largest, most disproportionate butt in cartoon history,” Lynch said upon seeing the cartoon version of herself, according to Entertainment Weekly. Considering the size of Donna Tubb’s rear end, I can’t even imagine what this might look like.

I’d say this could be a chance to see Lynch’s Sue Sylvester unleashed (or at least a proximity of her), as MacFarlane is known to cross all lines of decency on his shows, but she’s not very filtered over on Glee. Instead, it’s a chance to see Lynch at all, considering we have to wait until the spring for the return of Glee. You can’t have enough Jane Lynch on your television, even if it is just her voice.

The Last Word With Glee’s Jane Lynch
Posted in Interviews, Jane Lynch by Michelle at January 2nd, 2010 • No Comments »

Glee’s tough-talking Coach Sue, Jane Lynch, chatted with OK! recently and revealed what YouTube videos is the cast’s new favorite and shared the last thing that made her laugh.

Last Time I Laughed:
When my dog George fell off the bed. She was very embarrassed and ran into her crate.

Last Time I Was Angry:
Yesterday, when I couldn’t get my e-mail to download as fast as I wanted it to.

Last Celebrity I Met:
I did an episode of Party Down and in it I’m getting married and he plays a love of mine who tries to stop the wedding. It was fun.

Last Funny Thing That Happened On Set:
The kids are always checking out YouTube. There’s this one called “Grape Lady”: A newscaster is stomping grapes, and she falls and breaks her collarbone. It’s horrible. But it’s what the kids are watching.

Last Song I Downloaded:
Madonna’s “Vogue.” I’ve been kind of up on Madonna these days. I grew up in the ’80s, so she provided the soundtrack to my life. I think my favorite song is “Crazy For You.” It’s got such an aching and a longing to it; I know we’re doing that song in the Madonna episode [on Glee].
